FAQ
1. What is SkySync?
SkySync is a decentralized sensing protocol that turns everyday environmental observationsâphotos, air impressions, micro-weather changesâinto structured, verifiable data. Users contribute through a mobile interface and are rewarded based on data quality and relevance.
2. Do I need technical knowledge to participate?
No. The system is built for non-experts. You only need your phone, the ability to notice environmental changes, and a few seconds to log them.
3. What kind of data can I submit?
You can submit sky photos, short written notes about the air, and brief weather predictions. The system accepts structured and unstructured input, all geotagged and timestamped.
4. How does validation work?
Each submission is reviewed anonymously by other users (validators). Their task is to verify that the data is consistent, reasonable, and usable. If a submission passes threshold consensus, it gets anchored on-chain.
5. How are rewards calculated?
Rewards are not fixed. They depend on submission quality, uniqueness, validation success, andâfor forecastsâaccuracy over time. Scores are computed dynamically per epoch.
6. Can I see the data submitted by others?
Yes. All validated data is publicly viewable through map layers, dashboards, and query endpoints. You can filter by time, region, or data type.
7. What blockchain does SkySync use?
SkySync anchors data on EVM-compatible Layer 2 networks such as Optimism and Polygon. Only hashes and validation records are stored on-chain; large media files are stored via IPFS.
8. What is $SYN used for?
$SYN is used for rewarding contributions, staking for validator roles, governance voting, and accessing future forecasting or staking pools. It represents verified participation in the system.
9. How does SkySync prevent spam or abuse?
The system uses scoring filters, behavioral tracking, and validator consensus to minimize low-quality or false submissions. Repeated abuse leads to reputation loss and reward exclusion.
10. Who is this protocol for?
Anyone who notices what others miss. Whether you're a casual sky-watcher, a field activist, or just someone curious about what the wind saysâthereâs a place for you in SkySync.
